A shadow demon. Extracted from the Abyss and fused with the [[Dreggith]] against his will, he was trapped via a magical slumber, so that his soul energy could power the dark forge. The dwarves greediness drove them to continually refine rubyshard for their machines, thus weakening and eventually breaking Panpox's chains. Once awakened, Panpox realized he could utilize the Dreggith's connection to the rubyshard to control the minions it powered. Through careful planning, he was able to orchestrate an explosion of so many rubyshard, it tore the already thin fabric between the Material Plane and the Elemental Plane of Fire. The ensuing energy that was released and absorbed, the energy he slowly absorbed from the Fire Plane portal until its eventual self-correcting collapse, and the energy he absorbed from the work of the Fleshsmiths; allowed Panpox to open and enlarge a portal to the Shadowfell. It was only the damage the Dreggith suffered at the hands of Gilly's team that circumvented Panpox's plans for the Shadowfell, causing the enlarging portal to collapse and bringing the Sunfire Citadel with it. Once Gauntlgrym was unearthed by the dwarves more recently, the initial group was able to make it into the open vault door and restart the Dreggith, unaware of the atrocities committed by the forge since their forebears lived here. Due to the damage the Dreggith sustained, Panpox was able to come forth from his shell, though he still required closed proximity to the Dreggith. Realizing their mistake, the dwarves were able to closed the vault door. Follow-on groups of dwarves intent on capturing the riches stored within the remainder of the city found the vault door impossible to reopen.
